This spell takes 1d8 thunder damage if the target willingly moves before then and also the spell will end.
Basically, whenever you reach the higher levels, this spells damage will increase. The melee attack deals an extra 1d8 thunder damage to the target at 5th level and also the damage the target will take to move increases up to the 2d8. Here both the damage rolls will be increased by 1d8 at the levels 11th and 17th.
